Characteristics of Mondays, the activity was low. Total shares traded (turnover) going down by about 50% from KES 514.87m to KES 257.92m.

Top Gainers

The shares that had the highest growth were Uchumi growing by 7.41% to 2.90, TPS gaining by 5.32% to 24.75 and Sasini by 5.15% to 25.50.

Top Losers

The shares that lost the most today were BAT losing 9.64% to close at 750.00, Unga losing by 4.17% to close at 28.75 and Equity losing 2.86% to close at 34.00.

Banks

The highest traded shares remained the same; Equity, Safaricom and KCB. The three stocks also received the highest foreign activity for the day.

Telcos

In the telecommunication sector, Safaricom gained 2.68% in market value to average at KES 19.15 with shares worth KES 38.51Mn exchanging hands. The counter was dominated at 91.36% by foreign trades.

Bonds:
The bond market saw a 58.81% increase in turnover to KES 1.36Bn from KES 0.86Bn despite market activity holding off at 11deals.
